According to the Regulation (EU) No 910/2014 (eIDAS Regulation), a Qualified Electronic Signature (QES) has the same legal value and effect as a handwritten “blue ink” signature across Europe.

It is based on a qualified certificate, issued by a trusted certification authority, and it is created using a Qualified Signature Creation Device (QSCD).

A QES provides integrity, authenticity, and non-repudiation of the signed electronic document, ensuring its legal validity.

The certificates of Qualified Electronic Signatures provided by JCC Payment Systems have a duration from one (1) up to three (3) years.

Once you have requested your electronic signature certificate through the JCC Trust Portal application process, the documents required for each type of certificate are as follows:

Certificate of electronic signature for a natural person:

- Natural Person application form issued by the JCC Trust Portal

- Natural Person ID or passport

Certificate of electronic signature for a natural person associated with a Legal Entity Person:

- Application form of a Natural Person associated with a Legal Entity which issued by the JCC Trust Portal

- Identity or passport of the Natural Person Identity or passport of the Legal Representative

- Recent authorization of a representative, within 3 months from the Board of Directors to represent the Legal Entity

- VAT Certificate showing the VAT number, in case the applicant wants the certificate to include the VAT number and not the registration number of the company.

To receive your certificate you should follow the following steps:

1. Login to the JCC Trust Portal

2. Select "Electronic Signatures" from the menu on the left 3. Select "My applications"

4. Select "Enrol" from the "Actions" category

5. Fill in the password you will use to use your Qualified eSignature to sign documents via JCC Signing Portal

6. "Submit" option

JCC has a signature platform (JCC Signing Portal), which enables the users to create their account, upload the document they wish to sign and choose where to place the electronic his signature. To place the electronic signature, the users should enter their certificate credentials and give their approval through the JCC Authenticator application installed on their mobile phone (smart phone required) using their biometrics. Once approval is given, the citizen will be able to download the digitally signed document.

It is estimated that the time required to complete the entire process for approval of the application for the issuance of an electronic signature certificate is up to 5 working days.

The regulation of the European Union eIDAS No 910/2014 came into full effect on July 1, 2016 and all member states of the European Union are obliged to adopt it. It replaces the Electronic Signature Directive (1999/93 / EC) and establishes a Pan-European Legal Framework for electronic signatures and a range of new electronic trust services.

Yes, according to the eIDAS regulation, Qualified electronic signatures provided by JCC Payment Systems are legally equivalent to handwritten signatures and are legally valid in all member states of the European Union.
